Hidden inside the veil unbroken,
Lies my soul still unspoken,
Countless words still unsaid,
Many thoughts yet unexpressed,
An incomplete story, an unfinished song,
I am an actor without a role, Im bound to go wrong!!
While walking on the road of life,
I wait for my soul to be discovered,
Until then this dejected soul lies in eternal torment.

I was really young when ‘history’ as a subject was introduced in our syllabus.Earlier there was a whole chunk ‘EVMS’ but as I was promoted to 7th grade, came into the scene were History, Civics and Geography, a bifurcation of EVMS,all to be taught by different teachers. My history teacher in her introductionclass described ‘history’ as “his-story or the story of the man.”It is indeed a good way to put it, especially to explain its importance to a classof 7th graders. That sentence however intrigued me for a different reason. Why was it always “his-story or the story of a man” and not “her-story or thestory of a woman”. Perhaps the term was derived by some dominating malechauvinist…who knows! Many years have passed since my first history class. It wasn’t a subject I wasgood at coz the events, dates or even names of the emperors who once ruledthe nation failed to make it to my memory. But that sentence still sits pretty inmy brain.A few days back, I happened to share it as a status on my face book profilepage. God bless such networking sites, a bleak connection is maintainedeven with souls I was briefly in contact with. Friends and acquaintances mosthad a common reaction to it. They all felt that I was being a ‘feminist’!!!Was it true? ...but I just asked a simple question…no worries if you don’t havethe answer.. Why tag me as a feminist??Have been reading too much about women rights, equality etc. but any personwho brings up such issues is a ‘feminist’.They say men and women are equal. But anyone who points out the apparentand oh so visible inequality between the sexes is a ‘feminist’.Be it a debate, speech, group discussion or an interview. Talk about womenliberalization and her rights, you’ll be cool. Practice them and you’ll be waivedoff as just another ‘feminist’.Someone rich and famous once said “Every time I consider myself better than adoor mat…I’m being a FEMINIST.” Don’t ask me her name, I was never too goodat remembering names you see ... How does it matter anyways ... Must be justanother ‘feminist’.A deprived man who stands up for his needs is looked up to. Of course heshould get what he wants. It’s his right after all. A women stands up for herbasic fundamental rights ...shut her up ...she is just a ‘feminist’.It’s not that I have anything against the word. The dictionary says “feminist is aperson who advocates women rights”. The situations in which it is used and it’simplied meanings never cease to surprise me though.
I was lucky enough to be born in such an environment where rights(accompanied with responsibilities of course) never had to be asked for. Theywere infact presented in a silver plate to be cherished for life. Me and my likesare however, just a minority.
The rest either take the oppression as their destiny or if they repel they
are quietened for they are a dangerous specie called “The Feminist”.
